The installation consists of deploying a pre-created template where vCenter itself is installed as a standalone virtual machine. From a management perspective, it is recommended that this vCenter server be on a separate cluster so that it is not self-managed.
Install vmware vCenter
The vCenter server can be installed using two options, using the web installer or using CLI commands to automate the creation of the vCenter server. For simplicity, it is recommended to use the web installation of the vCenter server by running the installer:
Installing vCenter Server offers the following installation options:
- Installation - used when reinstalling vCenter Server
- Upgrade - used when changing the vCenter server version.
- Migration - a way to move a vCenter server from a windows instance to a new vCenter environment.
- Restore - restore a damaged server center from a created backup

Set the virtual vCenter server name and password to the root account. This account can be used to access and manage the appliance itself. It is not possible to manage VMs in vcenter using root.
Set the vCenter server size according to the number of managed VM and ESXi servers.
Select the disk where the server center will be installed. It is recommended to turn on “Thin Disk Mode” during installation
Setting the IP address and domain that will be used to access the server. When entering domains (FQDN), it is necessary to enter the required record in the authoritative DNS servers.
Run vCenter 2 phase installation
NTP server settings. The use of an external NTP server is recommended. During installation, it is advisable to enable SSH access for additional settings.
Setting the default domain that will connect to the vcenter server with the administrator password.
Access to the vCenter server is via the web interface.
To log in, you must select the user administrator@vsphere.local and the selected password. This user has full administrator rights to administer the entire server center.
